2021 Q5 vs. 2020 Q5

The 2021 Q5 comes with more powerful engines compared to the 2020 Q5. The Q5 standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder delivers a power output of 261 horsepower on the 2021 Q5 compared to 252 horsepower from the 2020 Q5.

For 2021, the Q5 gains a standard 12-volt hybrid system, which was not available in the 2020 Q5 models. The 2021 Q5 comes with a new grille and rear bumper designs, new headlamps and taillights, and newly designed 18-inch and 20-inch wheels.

The Plug-in hybrid Q5 gets a new exterior design and styling, featuring a new sporty 19-inch or 20-inch wheels and a new grille design.

Performance and Fuel economy

The 2021 Audi Q5 is available with three powertrains. The base is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that aided by a mild 14-volt hybrid system to deliver 262 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. This powertrain is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The 2021 Q5 with this powertrain offers an acceleration time of 6 seconds from 0 to 60 mph. Fuel economy is rated at 22/28 mpg city/highway.

The Plug-in hybrid powertrain pairs the 2.0-liter turbo-four engine and the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with an electric motor increasing total power output to 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. This Plug-in hybrid Q5 covers 0-60 mph in only 5 seconds. The rated fuel economy is at 27 mpg when using gas only and 65 mpg-e when using gas and electricity.  This powertrain also features 20 miles of all-electric range.

Audi offers a turbocharged V-6 that delivers 349 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque for those interested in performance and speed. Paired with this engine is an eight-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain achieves an acceleration time of 4.7 seconds from 0-60 mph. Fuel economy is rated at 18/24 mpg.

The 2021 Audi Q5 gains standard safety and driver-assistance features. These include rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, rear collision warning with automatic emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors. The Prestige and Premium Plus models gain standard adaptive cruise control.

Technology

The 2021 Audi Q5 features a standard 10.1-inch infotainment system. Appl CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth streaming, and dual front-row USB ports are standard. A 7.0-inch digital gauge cluster display is standard on the Premium model, while the Premium Plus and the Prestige gains 12.3-inch digital display. All models get a standard 10-speaker stereo system, while 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen is available.
